Barzakh Cuff

A broad band of gold, domed and polished to a single unbroken surface: the sea seen from above, at the hour when it gives nothing away. Turn it over and the water is there: rows of ordered waves worked into the inner face, each crest carrying one raised point, each line cut by hand and repeating without ever quite repeating.

Nothing shows when it is worn. The pattern sits against the wrist, known only to the person wearing it, the way the sea keeps its motion below a surface that looks like glass.
